Mohamed Talaat joined HC in early 2008 as the head of the Custody Department and has played a major role in establishing the custody services offered by HC to its clients. He started his career in Saudi Arabia in the Insurance Industry in a recognized organization specialized in insuring marine transportation. In 2000, Mohamed joined Misr for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry (MCDR) Company as part of a specialized team to adapt the dealing system of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) with the centralized custody system within the firm. He was a team member of the MCDR operations related to GDRs as well as a coordinator for all business problems related to listed companies on the EGX. He was also a member of the committee delegated from the MCDR to assist the Libyan government setting up the Libyan Capital Market Authority. Additionally, he was delegated to the Non-Commercial Risk Fund to analyze all problems between brokerage companies and their clients.
Mohamed graduated from the Faculty of Law, Cairo University and holds a high diploma in capital markets from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
Ali Choucri is a commercial real-estate agent and consultant based in Boston, MA. He specializes primarily in multifamily sales, working with institutional investors, real-estate funds, and developers. He has brokered several large off-market deals and complex real-estate transactions. Ali has also consulted for corporate relocation providers, local small businesses in Boston, and technology startups. Before working in real estate, he jumpstarted a successful financial career as an analyst on the investment banking real-estate team at Morgan Stanley. He subsequently employed the knowledge he acquired at Morgan Stanley in an investment banking role at HC Securities & Investment, where he focused on hotel M&A transactions and spearheaded organizational development initiatives that remain in effect today. Inspired by the benevolence of his father, Ali donates a percentage of his commissions to a local children’s charity in Boston and partakes in various volunteering initiatives each year.
Ms. El-Ghazaly has over sixteen years of experience in the Egyptian financial services industry, and she currently holds several roles across a wide spectrum including private equity, venture capital as well as board memberships in some of Egypt’s largest corporates.
She serves as the Egypt Country Advisor at Mediterrania Capital Partners; a EUR 740Mn AUM Africa-focused private equity firm with HQ in Valetta, Malta. She is also an investment committee member at SANAD ESF II, a KfW-initiated, Luxembourg-based, impact investing fund investing in regional MSME-focused financial institutions and fintech startups.
She is also an independent board member at Middle East Glass Manufacturing Company; Africa’s second largest container glass manufacturer, and Raya Holding; one of Egypt’s largest conglomerates operating in the fields of information technology, food and beverage, non-banking financial services, logistics, and consumer electronics with c. USD 1.4Bn in revenue.
Ms. El-Ghazaly has led and participated in the successful consummation of over 25 M&A, ECM and debt transactions with c. USD 1.4Bn in transaction value; predominantly in Egypt. She was the Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at Pharos Holding for Financial Investments and the Executive Director at HC Securities and Investment as well as a Board Member at HC Brokerage.
Ms. El-Ghazaly has been recognized by Forbes as one of the Top 100 Power Businesswomen (2020) and Top 100 Most Influential Women (2018) in the Middle East and by Financial News London as one of the Top 50 Women in Middle East Finance in 2019. She holds a Masters of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School and a Bachelor of Economics from Cairo University.

Hassan Kenawi is the head of institutional sales trading and executive director at HC Brokerage, joining the company back in 2009. His diversified trading experience and in-depth market knowledge and skills allow him to develop innovative solutions and strategies through collaborative efforts balanced with market demands and reforms. Prior to his current position, Hassan held a key position within EFG Hermes, bringing 11 years of vast and enriched experience to his current post at HC Brokerage. At EFG Hermes, he was a key player in various departments, including asset management, financial analysis, money market funds, and the investment committee. Hassan was also vice president of EFG proprietary investment, where he assumed the responsibilities of proprietary investment, outperforming the benchmark to invest in the MENA region. He also held the position of assistant vice president for asset management where he was a member of the investment committee.
Hassan holds a BA from the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University. He also completed a diploma in economics from Ain Shams University in addition to completing the EFG Hermes valuation course.
Hossam Wahid is the head of non-institutional sales trading at HC Brokerage. He helped maximize trading volumes by attracting new clients and keeping relationships with existing clients. Prior to his position at HC, Hossam was head of sales and trading at Sigma Capital Holding from 1999 to 2005, from which he proved his ability to become the Vice-president of Non-Institutional Sales Trading. Before that, he was an account manager within the sales and trading team at EFG Hermes, where he handled high net worth retail clients. Hossam was also a financial analyst at Safwa Stock Brokers from 1996 to 1998, where he started his career and gained his knowledge and experience in financial markets.
Hossam holds a BA from the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University.
Moataz Assran has been head of the GDR trading desk at HC Brokerage since 2009. He helped maximize trading volumes by attracting new clients and keeping relationships with existing ones. Prior to his position, he was assistant head of the GDR trading desk from 2005 to 2009, as well as an account officer, handling high net worth retail clients. Prior to joining the sales and trading department, Moataz held the positions of GDR settlement officer and local settlement officer, where gained his knowledge and experience in the financial market.
Moataz holds a BA from the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University.
Hazem Choucri, with well over 20 years of experience in the financial industry, is currently vice president, foreign institutional sales as well as the sales and trading desk, focusing mainly on increasing HC’s international client base. He joined HC back in 2009 as a junior analyst on the foreign institutional sales and trading desk.
Hazem graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ain Shams University in 2007.
Badr Tahoun has been with HC Brokerage since 2010, currently is the Branches Managing Director. He started his career in 1990 as an auditor in KPMG – Hazem Hassan & Co. Prior to HC, Badr worked at Price Waterhouse Coppers as a group manager, Mubasher International as regional auditor, Mubasher Trading as managing director, and The Roots Securities as managing director. He has over 20 years of experience in auditing, development of electronic trading systems, and brokerage sales and trading.
Badr granted from the Faculty of Commerce, Ain Shams University in 1990, and is also a member of the Egyptian Society of Technical Analysts, Egyptian Society for Internal Auditing, and Egyptian Society for Financial Accounting and Auditing.
Mariam joined HC Research in February 2014 as an equity analyst covering the Egyptian real-estate sector. She began her career in late 2011 as a buy-side analyst at Acumen Asset Management, covering different sectors in the Egyptian market for 3 years.
A graduate of the American University in Cairo, Mariam holds a BA in political science and is currently a CFA candidate.
